Just about everybody will suffer from a lack of confidence at some time. Having a set of simple exercises you can practice during these times is an invaluable aid to getting your confidence level back on track as quickly as possible.
Here are seven things you can do to boost or maintain your confidence.
1. Practice correct posture. This might not sound like it’s obviously related to confidence, but how you sit and how you stand sends a message out to those around you. If that message radiates confidence out from you, you will get positive vibes back which will bolster your confidence. So, learn to stand like you have confidence and sit like you have confidence.
2. Surround yourself with confident and positive people. It may seem self-evident, but if you are consistently mixing with people of low self-esteem, this is going to rub off on you. Conversely, if the people around you are upbeat and assured, this will tend to create a positive atmosphere that you will benefit from.
3. Remember a time when you felt confident. Confidence is a feeling, and if you’ve felt it once, you can feel it again. Remembering back to a time when you felt confident and in control will enable you to re-experience that feeling and help to put you in a confident frame of mind.
4. Practice. Whatever it is you want to feel confident about, practice it as often as you can. When you work on something until you could do it in your sleep, you can’t fail to be confident in your ability to perform when it matters.
5. Think about all of the things you like about yourself and all of the things you know you do well. If you have any trouble doing this, think about the compliments you get from people – what are they telling you – you do well? It’s a good idea to write these things down so you’ll have them to refer to when your confidence is flagging and you need some inspiration.
6. Don’t give yourself a hard time. Don’t be your own worst critic, be your own best friend. After all, if a friend of yours was going through a tough time, you wouldn’t get on their case, would you? No, of course you wouldn’t. Positive self-talk can be one of your best weapons for confidence-boosting, so make sure you cultivate the habit.
7. Don’t be afraid to take risks. If you become a regular risk-taker you’ll find that it’s inevitable that you’ll grow in confidence as a result. There really is nothing like forcing yourself out of your comfort zone to increase your confidence. It will also serve to reduce your fear of the unknown, which can be a great confidence-sapper.
Remember, you do have talents and abilities. Make sure you give yourself due credit for these on a regular basis and this will prove to be the very best springboard for building unstoppable confidence.

Confidence is the feeling that you are sure you can complete a complex or even dangerous task. Feeling confident means you are sure of your skills and ability to succeed in a given task. It is an internal determination of how sure you are of your skills. Lack of confidence means you are not sure that you can complete an activity successfully. Your confidence of being able to do something is based on your track record of succeeding in various similar tasks. The feeling of self-confidence is learned and can be passed from one task to another task.

People with low confidence level are people who are stressed out. They are so harsh and strict on themselves that they tend to bring their own self-confidence down without anyone else helping them to. So, the first thing you will need to do is to relax and de-stress in the evening after work or 3 times a week. Yoga is generally good; you can try that if you want. Self-hypnosis is fabulous too. But if you do not have a budget for all those fancy classes, switch on some relaxing music and just sit there, with your legs cross, concentrate of breathing. Focus on every single breath you take and feel the anger and the confusion disperse with every single breath you exhale.

One reason people are not confident after successfully completing a task or achieving a difficult goal is because they often do not acknowledge their achievement and may even demean what they have done. Another reason some people are not confident is they look at a task or a goal as a large entity. Success or failure is determined by the outcome that may come after days or months of toiling. Some people wontedly take on tasks that are way over their head, such that they are assured of failure. They do this to re-enforce their apparent lack of self-confidence.

The way to build confidence is to: Break tasks into smaller units; acknowledge your success for each step, and learn from your mistakes to re-enforce your confidence.

Break task into smaller steps: Before you set out to perform a task or try to achieve a goal, you must realize that the activity is in fact a series of smaller steps. This is a basic concept in any type of task planning. Thus, instead of waiting until the end to examine if you are successful, you have a series of successes, leading up to the finish.

Acknowledge success for each step: For each one of these steps, you must acknowledge your success. Congratulate yourself each time whenever you succeed. If you do not do well, correct your error. Take care about warning yourself, except in extreme cases.

Re-enforce overall confidence: This self-talk will re-enforce your acknowledgment of your abilities and increase your confidence as you go along on achieving the goal.

You can build your confidence by acknowledging your successes for each step along the way to achieve a goal. The self-congratulations will build and re-enforce your confidence along the way feeling like a champion.

1. Sharpen the Image

1. Certainty

Lets face it, when if comes to confidence no one is perfect. But it seems to me like one of the biggest factors in having high levels of self confidence comes from knowing exactly what you want out of life. I mean think about it, when you are not very sure about what you want, where you are going, or what kind of results you would like to achieve. That leads to a fair amount of uncertainty which can be a total killer of confidence. That is why certainty is the first key; it is because it is so important. Your action activity for this first key is to set some time aside and really focus on what you want out of life, where you want your life to go, and what kind of experiences you would like to have and make sure to be a detailed imaginative as you can. You will see your confidence level rise; because you will be completely aware of how you want to walk through life.

2. Fearlessness

Now when I speak of fearlessness I am not talking about having a total absence of fear. I am talk about your association to fear. Many of us live far below our potential; and it is not because they are not smart enough, or able, yet it is because they are just too afraid to try something new, ultimately they are afraid to fail. Yet the psychology of someone who has a great level of confidence does not see failure as something that is negative or to be feared. Ask your self this question right now. Am I willing to learn from my mistakes? True confidence comes from the ability to make mistakes, learn from them and use what you learned to take a better action next time. So go out and make some mistakes!

3. Awareness

Have you ever been looking for something and not been able to find it, and become upset and annoyed because you know this thing you are looking was “Right there!!” just two minutes ago? Just to have someone else point the thing out right in front of your nose? It is no different when it comes to confidence, when we get into a negative state of mind it is easy to ride it further and further down. Yet the whole time there is our confidence, our power, right next to us the whole time. So now it is time to become aware of the fact that we choose our thoughts and that confidence can be ours at any moment as long as we just make a strong decision to take a step back, take a deep breath, and reset our thoughts. Action step? Work on being aware of when your confidence starts to flounder, and ask your self some empowering questions like, How in this moment do I have power? Or what would it take for me to have more confidence right now?

4. Self Talk

The next key goes hand in hand with the one before it. Along with being aware of your confidence when it starts to slip, being aware of your own self talk. That is the way you communicate with your self. Way too often people are negative in their thoughts. They ask questions to themselves that require a negative answer. Like I always say your brain is like a machine, it has no bias what ever you put in is what you get out. So make a point of only asking questions or making statements that are positive. You will find your confidence going up because you constantly will be receiving information that makes you feel good, rather than information that makes you want to crawl under a rock. The homework for this one is to take complete ownership of your thoughts, remember you are the boss! If there are thoughts going on in your mind that do not support you, instantly make a statement that is the opposite. You will be blown away by the effects!

5. Practice

In this day and age of instant Email, instant messages, I want it now, give it to me now. It can be difficult to have to have patience. We all want the results but no one wants to do the work. Often times it is the very thing that people do not want to do, the thing they wont do, that is exactly what the need to do. How many of us do not exercise? How many of us to not deepen our relationships when we know we should? I think you get my point, so the real secret is just old fashioned practice. Make confidence something you are fully committed to, use these tools everyday, make them a part of who you are. This change in your belief and how you construct your thoughts will lead to a shift in your life that will knock you off your socks! Guaranteed!

Disclaimer: If you follow the 5 Keys to Unstoppable Confidence with passion and determination you may encounter the following side effects: Abnormal Joy, decreased stress, problems complaining, lack of nervousness, increased sex drive, feeling empowered upon arising from a sitting or lying position, racing heartbeat, manic intensity,

Acquire and retain that beautiful and euphoric winning feeling of confidence and success every moment of every day.

You capture those confident feelings when you have a small or short-term success. This success may be as big or as small as you want it to be.

There is no known rule that says for anything to be a success it has to be something huge, titanic or long-term.

Success is success! And that is how your mind will see it.

Make it your role to daily feed success after success to your sponge of a mind. And as surely as a seed grows into a plant, you will grow more confident after each seed that you plant, and that confidence will grow even more and gain momentum as the plant gets bigger and stronger, fertilised by each and every success that you achieve.

Take advantage of all your small or short-term victories. Make the most of all your short-term successes; particularly when you are feeling pessimistic, feeling low or insecure about your future.

Remind yourself and profit from your past successes to lift you and help you regain and secure that confident feeling again from deep within.

I am pretty sure you have daily short-term successes that you can be proud of. For example, you had a project to complete and were given a tight deadline. You managed your time effectively and you confidently worked through it until completion.

Or perhaps you had to make a presentation and were given short notice. You had to gather all the relevant information and facts and relay them in a confident and assured manner.

These were two examples of success, where you had that confident feeling. . I am sure when you sit back and go through the past few days or weeks you will remember many more successes.

And when you do, relax and think about them. Recreate and stimulate the confident winning feelings again. Relive the moment of every success and accomplishment.

Use that surge of confident feeling to fuel you to your next success; to the one after that, and to the one after that. Gradually building a portfolio of successes.

Perhaps you could set aside an hour for the next few days to write down as many successes as you can. And next to each one, describe in detail how you felt; how much of a winner you were.

Focus on how you believed you were confident, and how you communicated with supreme confidence. Remember how you psyched yourself up to increase your confidence prior to, during and after the event.

Write as much as you can on how fantastic and strong and confident you felt. As you write, recapture the winning feelings, the pride, the confidence and the satisfaction.

By being a successful, confident winner once, you can be a winner again and again; as many times as you like throughout your life.

Anytime you feel unconfident or nervous, apprehensive or anxious, regain that confident winning feeling by emotionally remembering your past successes.

A winning feeling is a confident feeling, one that reinforces success time after time.

Self-confidence can be defined as the ability to believe in oneself as well as one’s gifts. This trait is essential to one’s achievements throughout one’s lifetime. This ability assists people to understand that they are worthwhile and that they can be successful in their undertakings. Even individuals who do not possess this strength can start to increase their self confidence.
Without this attribute, many individuals become unable to accomplish life ambitions. They frequently are unsuccessful in interpersonal interactions, academic endeavors, and job settings. They frequently acquire a social phobia, and tend to be uncomfortable in group encounters. Individuals who do not possess self-confidence frequently be reluctant to attempt to aspire or labor toward goal accomplishment; these people know that they will certainly disappoint. They become sure that they are lesser or less capable than the people around them. They usually do not succeed because they do not trust themselves.
On the other hand, the one who is able to gain self confidence will be able to correct this downward spiral and be able to find a cure for this social phobia. Such a person learns that building self confidence causes amazing improvements in relationships and educational endeavors. On occasion, an employment prospect may be a product of steps toward boosting self-confidence.
Individuals may have failed to build self-confidence for a number of reasons. Some had overbearing parents, or been teased often during their school years. Many struggled academically or socially. Others simply were not outgoing enough to make friends or experience the positive support of classmates, parents, or teachers. Frequently, these people struggle with a self-perception of inferiority and uselessness.
Too often, those who were unable to gain self confidence during childhood are unable to do this throughout adulthood. They have been unable to learn how to accomplish this, and usually learn only if they seek the assistance and support of peers or professional counselors. Many people do not want to admit these difficulties in their lives, and merely continue to strive throughout their lives.
Several treatments can be utilized to assist people to build self confidence. Quite a few types of counseling strategies, including behavioral therapy or group therapy, may be employed to teach clients how to build self confidence. A wide variety of self-help books have been designed to encourage clients to improve self-confidence. Therapists even provide seminars and retreats developed to allow people boost self confidence.
Although all of these methods can be beneficial, two other treatments that can be quickly learned and incredibly successful for a majority of people who try them are confidence hypnosis and Neuro-Linguistic Programming or NLP. Specialists who practice confidence hypnosis are typically capable of coaching clients to acquire self-confidence and radically improve both their perspectives and their abilities to achieve in life.
Traditional hypnosis (utilizing post-hypnotic suggestions) is often quite beneficial. This approach is most helpful with those who are suggestible and easily directed. This type of therapy often is not effective for people who are more methodical or are critical thinkers.
For people described by the latter group, Ericksonian hypnotherapy or NLP therapies work much better. These tools are effective for successfully communicating with the subconscious, which is the center of our thoughts and feelings. This is because the resistance typically offered by analytical persons to suggestiveness is bypassed.
An NLP strategy that clients are frequently taught to boost self-confidence is called anchoring. Anchoring is a normal experience. For instance, if you encounter an old song, and have feelings of deja vu, this is because the subconscious connected the emotions from a past time, with the notes of the song you were listening to during that time. So now when you hear the music again, the subconscious triggers the memories connected with it. In effect, the song is an anchor for those sensations.
With anchoring, clients are regressed to an instance where they did experience the feelings of confidence. As they remember and re-experience those feelings, they are taught to touch two fingers together. The subconscious then associates the emotions of confidence with this behavior. If the patient argues that they have no recollection of ever feeling confident, they can create an imaginary event in which they do see themselves being confident, and then anchor that instance of confidence.
After anchoring the emotions of confidence, when they find themselves in situations that necessitate self-confidence, touching the fingers together triggers memories of confidence that are useful in the present situation.
A very useful NLP too called the “Flash” may be utilized to instantaneously substitute stressful emotions, which are often connected with a lack of self-confidence. Because of this method, the individual diverts the visual images that create negative emotions, to trigger visual pictures to produce a constructive response.
For instance, the individual programs the subconscious to use the mental images that cause feelings of uncertainty, as triggers for mental pictures that precipitate emotions of self confidence. It is our mental images that trigger our emotions.
Everyone has goals, and desires. Some individuals are able to strive toward these to accomplish their desires. Sometimes, however, people let their lack of self-confidence to conquer them. Although NLP does not successfully treat every person, the overwhelming majority of people who try this technique tell of great success in increasing self confidence. This therapy is actually more beneficial than other approaches for the majority of people.
Summary: Individuals who do not possess self-confidence typically do not easily succeed in the majority areas of their lives. Several elements cause individuals to develop social phobias or the feeling of incompetence. A number of treatment approaches have been developed to aid clients to build self-confidence. NLP is well-known to be highly beneficial by a large number of individuals who have used this technique.
