As a leader you need to cultivate and build your team’s confidence. Your team should have confidence in them self as well as confidence in your leadership skills. In general people will judge the probability of future success based on past performance. As you work with your team you will build a consistent history based on past successes and failures. If you maintain a good track record of success you will create a sense of optimism that future projects will also be successful. If you have a record of disappointment, your team will probably view any new projects as having a high chance of failing.

It is the job of the leader to select projects that will contribute to an overall sense of success within his team. By starting with projects that the team all believes will be successful a leader is able to raise the level of confidence for the next project. Over time the confidence of a team can be built to a point that it can complete a project that would have been a failure previously. A series of projects can be completed easily and successfully when they are ordered in such a way to build confidence while the same projects can all be complete failures when done in a different order.

The first project should very easy. Historically nations have built monuments to remind them of their success. While it might not be appropriate to create a sculpture or triumphal arch for every project, some projects serve as trophies themselves. Once a team has had some success, the difficulty of their projects can increase drastically. When leadership attempts to paint a failure as if it was really a success or just hide it completely it often amplifies the failure instead of minimizing it.

Ignoring this gradual approach to more and more difficult projects is on of the major reason leaders fail. Obviously the market forces and other driving factors of an organization may make it impossible to do things in the best possible order. But the skilled leader should be able to take larger projects and break them down into tasks that are very doable. In this way you can achieve the organizations immediate goals and still give your team the ability to build confidence even when you don’t have complete control over what needs done next or enough ramp up time to do things in the way you would prefer.

If you lack self esteem and are low in self confidence then you probably spend a lot of time wishing you had the confidence to act and behave in the way people with high self esteem do.

If you want to be happier and derive more from life incresing your self confidence and self esteem is the key and its easy to do with these simple tips.

What Low Self Esteem Means

Having low self esteem and lacking confidence in your ability to do the things you’ve always wanted to do can distort your views, making you think everything always seems to go right for everyone but you.

The Cure

In reality, people who appear to be high in self confidence and always seem to get what they want simply believe in themselves. Being high in self esteem opens you up to the possibility of success rather than failure.

If you are high in self esteem you understand that failing at something means just that, you have failed at one task, it does not make you a failure.

What is Self Esteem?

Self esteem refers to the way you perceive yourself and the way you think others perceive you.

If you have low self esteem then you will tend to have a low opinion of yourself, your capabilities and how people perceive you.

If you have a high sense of self esteem then you will have a positive and realistic opinion of yourself and how people perceive you. You will have a good awareness of your strengths and weaknesses.

How to recognize if you are suffering from Low Self Esteem

If you’re internal thoughts tend to begin with:

•	I can’t…

•	I must…

•	I should…

The chances are you are suffering from low self esteem

How to Build Confidence and Self Esteem

People with a highly developed sense of self esteem have the self confidence to achieve their goals. Succeeding at the goals they set for themselves adds to the self confidence building blocks they already have in place.

Each successive achievement creates opportunities for greater success and self belief which increases their perception of self esteem.

Having a positive sense of self perception and self esteem is one of the most important factors for increasing your self confidence as if you believe you will succeed at a task then the chances are you will.

If you believe you are going to fail at a task, then you will act accordingly, and the chances are you will fail.

Tips for improving self esteem:-

• Make a list of all your strengths. Remember we are all good at something. Your list could include being a good parent, a loyal friend or a trusted employee.

• Perception creates reality so perceive yourself as someone who achieves the things you set out to do.

• Remember that success builds upon success, so set yourself small goals initially, and build on them.

• Believe in yourself. For every negative belief you hold about yourself think of four positive ones. If you can’t think of beliefs that are true at the moment then think of beliefs you would like to be true that you can work towards.

• Choose two things that you know you are good at and think of three ways you could work to improve each of these even more. By concentrating on areas that you know you are already good at will improve your confidence and be a good building block for future success.

• Even if you sometimes don’t feel like it always act in a confident manner.

• Make a list of positive affirmations that you can use to encourage yourself and raise your confidence.

• Surround yourself with positive, successful, confident people.

By practicing these tips aimed at raising your confidence and self esteem, you will begin to change the way you perceive yourself and the things you are able to achieve.

Increase Your Self Esteem & Get More From Life

As your self esteem increases you can start to think about the things you used to put yourself down for and use the same techniques to build on your confidence.

Don’ allow small setbacks to diminish your newly gained self esteem. Keep it in perspective and remember it’s just that, a small setback.

It has been observed that graduates don’t achieve their goals in life as earlier planned. Today most graduates fail to understand that their future lies in their hands. Yes, problems do occur which may hinder your success in life. But sincerely all hope is not lost. Your problem today is as a result of your inability to be confident in yourself.

Graduates should be confident, this is because confidence is associated with feeling happy, energetic, lighthearted, and generally in control of life. Confidence is a very precious commodity. Those who posses it find it easier to learn new skills, to make friends, to enjoy happy relationships, to adapt to change and to achieve what they want in life.

The lives of graduates/job seekers will be simply be better when live with confidence. This is because being confident in yourself has a huge benefits. They are:

1.Attracting Opportunities: When you are confident, others are likely to entrust you with new challenges, difficult problems to solve, and tasks that require strong leadership.

2.Feeling in Control: When you are confident, you believe you are more self determining, that you can take the initiative, influence others, and make things happen.

3.Forging Relationships: Just as confidence helps people to initiate friendships, it also helps to build positive, mutually beneficial relationships over long term.

4.Coping with Crises: When you are confident that you can solve any problems and rise to challenges, you are more likely to respond to difficult situations.

5.Learning throughout Life: Being confident makes you more open to learning and experimenting in life, leading to greater self-fulfillment and emotional growth. Confidence has nothing to do with being self-satisfied or superior. It means being happy to admit that you have failings, that you do not know everything, and have plenty to learn.

Therefore graduates should plan ahead for a greater tomorrow, you may encounter problems or mistakes, do not give up, agree that you have made a mistake, learn from that problem or mistake, build on your existing confidence and you will understand that with confidence, life is simply far more enjoyable.

http://www.google.com

When you’ve gained someone’s trust, you’ve also gained his or her confidence – another key to lasting influence. Dwight D. Eisenhower once stated, “In order to be a leader, a man must have followers. And to have followers, a man must have their confidence.” I love the story about how John D. Rockefeller dealt with his creditors. When a creditor came knowing on John’s door, hoping to have his bill paid, Rockefeller would reach for his checkbook with gusto and ask, “Which would you rather have: cash or Standard Oil Stock?” He did so with such confidence that people almost always chose to take stock in his company.
Aristotle had specific criteria that he believed were necessary in gaining one’s full confidence. They are as follows:
- Wisdom
- Reason
- Familiarity with truth in all forms
- Knowledge of specific facts and principles within a given case
- Experience
- Expertise
- Competence
People are constantly looking for someone to help direct them in their lives and to assist them in making the right choices. Demonstrating confidence in everything you do will draw others to put their trust in you. Sometimes we may have to pretend we’re more confident than we really are, hence the saying, “Fake it ‘til you make it.” I’ve seen plenty of people of only average to mediocre ability influence more effectively than others more naturally gifted than they were simply because they exuded higher confidence. The people we admire and look up to the most are usually the type of people who know what they want and how to get it. People who doubt themselves and lack confidence in themselves will always struggle to effectively influence others. If you’re perceived as doubtful or unconfident, your prospects will feel that way, too – about your product, your idea, or anything else you might ever try to present to them. It is said that the most lasting impression is made in about the first four minutes. Be sure you demonstrate confidence in those first four minutes, because the cement dries fast! Nothing can replace a bad first impression, even if you try to make it up later. Fixing a first impression is like fixing a wrecked car. Even after exhaustive time, effort, and expense, you still know it was wrecked, and you’re even more apt to detect anything that might be wrong with it.
It is important to know that coming across as too confident will likely have the opposite effect. Rather than gaining people’s confidence, you’ll turn them off. In fact, if you make a mistake or do something inept, people are more likely to be won over by you if you can laugh at yourself and not take yourself too seriously. Coming across as self-absorbed or egotistical will make you appear incredibly unbecoming. Being more sincere and natural will make you more approachable and likable. According to Jay
Conrad Levinson of Guerilla Marketing fame, confidence is the number one reason people are persuaded to buy. When the buyer has confidence in your selling strategy, your ability to influence him increases. Confidence can also be defined as a belief and assurance in yourself.
Learning how to persuade and influence will make the difference between hoping for a better income and having a better income. It is the missing puzzle piece that will crack the code to dramatically increase your income, improve your relationships, and help you get what you want, when you want, and win friends for life. Ask yourself how much money and income you have lost because of your inability to persuade and influence. Think about it. Sure you’ve seen some success, but think of the times you couldn’t get it done. Has there ever been a time when you did not get your point across? Were you unable to convince someone to do something? Have you reached your full potential? Are you able to motivate yourself and others to achieve more and accomplish their goals? What about your relationships? Imagine being able to overcome objections before they happen, know what your prospect is thinking and feeling, feel more confident in your ability to persuade.
